My name is Ashley Bembenek. I am a recent graduate of Northern Michigan University as of May 2014. I earned a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education with a focus in Social Studies, Reading and Integrated Science. I'm very enthusiastic about the educational system and all the wonderful experiences I have had within them. I've had the pleasure of student teaching within Superior Hills Elementary. I worked closely with two mentors in first and third grade. The experience has given me a wide range of experiences as well as the confidence to know myself as an educator. My hobbies include hiking, biking, running, watching movies, being with family, and I enjoy baking. |
“Where I’m From”
I am from Grandma’s recipe book that folds down from the bottom of her cabinet,
From grass- stained knees
And a red rusty swing set
I am from the 3- bedroom house filled with 6 and no need for an animal when your children act like one.
I am from chlorine tablets and waterproof sunscreen,
a vegetable garden that grows every year in the backyard and needs someone to release them from their captive weeds.
I’m from Martian cake
and hound dog singers that aren’t afraid
from Bembeneks
and Garbers both tied by traditions and treasures
I’m from the late nights of Pinochle
And homemade plates of cookies
From Grandpa’s little princess
and we are like a puzzle.
I’m from Catholics, who value volunteering and leadership, necessary to growing an example for all.
I’m from 100% Polish
From pickles and cheese
From the hard-working father who does not speak fairytales and day dreams, but the truth of reality
and a mother who carries a load, only rests her eyes, and tries hard to control.
I am from the cracked hands, blistering heels, and loving smirk that drives to be only me.
